At Cook the British Way, we want you to be completely satisfied with your course purchase. This Refund Policy outlines the terms and conditions for refunds on our culinary courses and services.
14-Day Cooling-Off Period
In accordance with the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel your course purchase within 14 days of enrolment without giving any reason.
How to Exercise Your Right to Cancel
To cancel your purchase within the cooling-off period:
- Send an email to hello@cookthebritishway.co.uk with your order number and name
- Clearly state that you wish to cancel your course enrolment
- We will process your refund within 14 days of receiving your cancellation notice
Important Conditions
The 14-day cooling-off period applies with the following conditions:
- If you have not accessed more than 20% of the course content
- If you have not downloaded course materials or certificates
- If you have not attended any live sessions included in the course
Once you have accessed more than 20% of the course content or attended a live session, you waive your right to the cooling-off period refund, as the digital content has been substantially provided.
30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee
Beyond the statutory cooling-off period, we offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee for all our courses.
Eligibility Criteria
You may request a refund within 30 days of purchase if:
- You have accessed less than 50% of the course content
- You can demonstrate that the course did not meet the description provided
- You experienced technical issues that prevented course access, and we were unable to resolve them
- The course quality was significantly below the standard advertised
Non-Refundable Circumstances
Refunds will not be provided if:
- You have completed more than 50% of the course
- You have downloaded all course materials
- You have received a certificate of completion
- You have attended all scheduled live sessions
- More than 30 days have passed since purchase
- You simply changed your mind after substantially engaging with the content
Refund Process
How to Request a Refund
To request a refund under our satisfaction guarantee:
- Email hello@cookthebritishway.co.uk with your order details
- Provide your reason for requesting a refund
- Include any relevant information about technical issues or quality concerns
Processing Time
Once your refund request is approved:
- We will process the refund within 5-7 business days
- Refunds will be issued to the original payment method
- It may take an additional 3-5 business days for the refund to appear in your account, depending on your bank or card issuer
Partial Refunds
In certain circumstances, we may offer partial refunds:
- If you have accessed between 20% and 50% of the course content
- If technical issues affected part of your course experience
- If specific modules did not meet the advertised standard
Partial refund amounts will be calculated based on the content accessed and the specific circumstances of your case.
Course Bundles and Packages
For course bundles or package deals:
- Refunds are calculated based on individual course prices, not the discounted bundle price
- If you wish to keep some courses from a bundle, the refund will be adjusted accordingly
- Bundle discounts are forfeited if you request a partial refund
Live Sessions and Workshops
For courses that include live sessions or workshops:
- Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before the scheduled session
- No refunds are available for live sessions if you fail to attend without prior notice
- We may offer rescheduling options for missed sessions where available
Technical Issues
If you experience technical difficulties accessing course content:
- Contact our support team immediately at hello@cookthebritishway.co.uk
- We will work to resolve the issue within 48 hours
- If we cannot resolve the issue, you will be eligible for a full refund
- Technical issues on your end (internet connectivity, device compatibility) do not qualify for refunds unless we cannot provide alternative access methods
Subscription Services
For monthly or annual subscription services:
- You may cancel your subscription at any time
- Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period
- No refunds are provided for partial months or unused time in the current billing period
- You will retain access to content until the end of your paid period
Promotional and Discounted Courses
Courses purchased during promotional periods or with discount codes:
- Are subject to the same refund policy
- Refunds will be issued for the amount actually paid
- Promotional codes cannot be reused after a refund is issued
Gift Purchases
For courses purchased as gifts:
- The recipient has the same refund rights as direct purchasers
- Refunds will be issued to the original purchaser's payment method
- The 14-day cooling-off period begins when the gift recipient activates the course
Exceptions and Special Circumstances
We reserve the right to refuse refunds in cases of:
- Suspected fraud or abuse of the refund policy
- Multiple refund requests from the same customer
- Violation of our Terms of Service
- Sharing of course materials or account credentials
Disputes and Appeals
If your refund request is denied and you wish to appeal:
- Contact our customer service team with additional information
- We will review your case within 5 business days
- Our decision on appeals is final
Your Consumer Rights
This refund policy does not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer protection law. If you believe a course is faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose, you may have additional rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
